Langri Tangpa Centre

A non-profit centre for Tibetan Buddhist meditation and teaching
in Brisbane, Australia.

This month's calendarLangri Tangpa Centre provides a friendly and supportive environment for learning and putting into practice the teachings of the Buddha. Our principle teacher is the Tibetan lama Geshe Tashi Tsering. Click on the button for a quick overview of this month's calendar.

We are primarily a beginner's centre. We encourage constant and vigorous enquiry. There is no question too rudimentary! We hope that the teachings offered will be immediately useful in your everyday life, whether you are Buddhist or not.

Temporarily out of action - sorry folks! The main focus of the centre is on investigating and taming the mind. We offer regular classes for students of all levels, with a weekly program 4-5 evenings, and 2 mornings, per week. The classes are small enough for in-depth discussions - a defining characteristic of the centre. The 3-year Discovering Buddhism course has proved very popular, becoming a warm and dedicated group. Other classes include an introductory Buddhist topics and meditation techniques.

Pujas (offering ceremonies) and retreats help to integrate practice and theory. We also offer comprehensive home study courses on CD-ROM. We have an extensive lending library for members, and a small Dharma Shop with books, teaching CD's and prayer flags.

Langri Tangpa Centre is run entirely by volunteers. That means no-one gets paid - from the class teachers to the shop staff - everyone generously gives their time and effort for free. Of course, we offer a donation to Geshe-la when he comes to teach, and to the Sangha whenever we can.

We rely on your regular donations before class, on a small income from our Dharma Shop, and on tax deductible donations to our Gompa Fund. These donations help keep the lights on and the centre flourishing

We open all day Saturday, and half an hour before classes start, closing half an hour after classes end. Drop in to the Dharma Shop, or just browse the library, open all day Saturday (9 am - 6 pm).

May everyone who sees, hears, or thinks (even in frustration) of this web site be freed in that very second from all their sufferings, diseases, spirit harms, negative karmas and obscurations, and abide in the peerless happiness of full enlightenment forever. And may all the Dharma wishes of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and Ven. Geshe Tashi Tsering be instantly fulfilled. And may all practitioners everywhere continue joyfully in their practice.

Langri Tangpa Centre is an affiliate of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT), founded by Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Following the teachings of Lama Tsong Khapa, the FPMT works to relieve all beings from suffering in all its forms.
