School Visits

We welcome visits from individual students as well as class groups. Senior LTC students and teachers can answer your questions and direct you to some great resources online, and some recommended reading. It is fine to record the interviews and take photos. Appointments are essential!

Attending a class

School and university students are welcome to attend a class as guests. We have a broad spectrum of topics, from presentations on Buddhist psychology to ritual offering ceremonies with chanting and visualisation. Feel free to call the centre to find the class most suited to your requirements. There is usually a suggested $10/$5 donation, but it is whatever you are comfortable with on the day. There is usually a senior student available afterwards to show you around and answer any questions.

Individual interviews

Please email or call the centre to make an appointment. The most convenient times are to visit on Saturday 9 am - 5 pm, or call the centre after school on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoons for a telephone interview. If possible, we would appreciate if you could find out the other people in your class doing the same topic and come as a group, rather than as individuals one after the other. Due to our shocking typing skills (and that we are all volunteers here and a little pressed for time) we do not answer assignment questions by email!

School Groups

We welcome school class groups to visit our centre (at present we do not have the resources to send any teachers or nuns to visit your school). Please allow about 1-2 hours for a general talk and questions.

Our temple is an intriguing mix of traditional Tibetan holy objects and Queensland charm. We can explain the iconography and what all the objects on the altar mean, how to sit comfortably, and we can give a short guided meditation. We can also prepare a general talk on Buddhism in day-to-day life, based upon Buddha's first teaching on the Four Noble Truths, and explain the differences between Buddhism and Christianity, and the common ground of tolerance, compassion and universal responsibility.

We don't charge any fees, but donations are always welcome. We would also greatly appreciate a letter of acknowledgment from the school! We cater for senior students only, usually the grades 10-12.
