Cleansing Body, Speech and Mind

Meditations to cleanse one’s body, speech and mind to direct our day in a positive manner. Ensure that what we do becomes of benefit and doesn't harm, what we say is useful and people listen to us, and our positive attitudes become stronger and clearer.

Saka Dawa - Buddha's Birthday!

Join us for SAKA DAWA - celebrating the Buddha's birth, enlightenment and paranirvana. We will offer the Shakyamuni Buddha Puja (in English) that celebrates the life of the Buddha. Buddha's Birthday Family Pageant

Mindful Families invites you and your family to celebrate Buddha's birthday with us. The highlight of the day is decorating the 6-tusk elephant and leading it into the gompa with the children's procession! There will be storytelling, mantra recitation, birthday cake with the nuns, sweet tea and bath offering to Baby Buddha.

Tsa-tsa Painting

A relaxing afternoon spent painting the small flat-backed statues of the buddhas (tsa-tsas). Just by painting these simple statues you can calm the mind, develop your concentration, and begin to relate to the enlightened qualities of the buddhas you are painting. We are trasnformaing the statues of Lama Tsong Khapa for our library wall.

The Buddha and His Message

Gautama Buddha, the Enlightened One, was born a prince of the Sakya clan some 2500 years ago at a place called Lumbini, which covers part of modern day Nepal and an adjoining area of Northern India. His mother died seven days after his birth and the young prince Siddhartha Gautama, as he was known before his enlightenment, was nurtured and raised by his aunt Mahaprajapati.

Medicine Buddha Puja
