Teachings with the Tibetan Lamas

Geshe Lobsang Jamyang

Regular Friday Fortnight Teachings
with Geshe Lobsang Jamyang
Geshe Lobsang Jamyang has been a student of Geshe Tashi Tsering for over 20 years, and is a highly qualified teacher in his own right. He is the resident Geshe at Chenrezig Institute, our sister centre in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. He has many years of experience in all aspects of Buddhist theory and practice, and is a warm and enthusiastic teacher.

Geshe-la has invited everyone who comes to these teachings to email or write down any questions you may have. We will then have a regular evening every few Fridays devoted to answering these questions. They can about the topic we are studying or about Buddhism in general. Please keep your questions succinct, as Yaki has to translate them!

The Way of the Bodhisattva
Geshe-la is teaching from the text The Way of the Bodhisattva, advice on how to make every day of this life both compassionate and meaningful. We are into Chapter 10 - on Wisdom. Geshe-la explains the essential meaning of each verse, unraveling the code as it were, and elaborates on the often oblique references. He gives us supremely practical advice on how to follow these methods so as to be able to change our mind, and thus our life, for the better. Although we are working our way through the root text, you can still join at any time.

If you become a member of LTC you can listen to the current teaching in our Member's Area on the website. CD ROM's of these teachings are available for HOME STUDY from our shop.

About the Evening
The teachings are open to all and are suitable for both beginners and more experienced students. Geshe-la teaches according to the group, making the Dharma relevant to all. Geshe-la teaches through a translator - Yaki Platt - an Israeli man who has worked closely with Geshe-la for years. This gives us time to contemplate the teachings in nice bite-size chunks. There is an opportunity for questions at the end of teachings, and please join us for tea and biscuits afterwards.

Weekend courses with Geshe Lobsang Jamyang

Weekend Course with Geshe Jamyang
The 12 Links of Dependent Origination

An explanation of the picture drawn by the Buddha—the Wheel of Life. It shows how all our problems arise and what we can do to stop them. It depicts the 12 Links, the 4 Noble Truths, how karma and disturbing emotions work to keep us bound in cyclic existence, and how we can liberate ourselves and others. All the Buddha’s teachings are encapsulated in this one evocative image.

About the Course
We ask Geshe Jamyang to teach a weekend course twice a year, here at LTC. Geshe-la has a warm and informal style, teaches in-depth on the subject, and uses unforgettable modern analogies to illustrate the point! These teachings from a fully qualified master are recommended for intermediate students and the committed beginner.

Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 April
10 am - 4 pm both days. BYO lunch. Tea, coffee and refreshments provided
Suggested donation $110 / $80

Bookings appreciated with a $20 deposit.
